Question: Is there an alternative to this chord!?
My index finger must be weak or something, because I have a really hard time playing the F chord!. Is there an alternative chord to use instead of this one that sounds the same or is a little easier to play!? If not, I guess I'll just have to start doing some kind of finger exercises and that brings me to another point: what would you guitar players suggest I do to strengthen my fingers so this type of thing doesn't become a problem for me!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ultimately, you must strengthen the index finger to play good barre chords!. Until then, you can play a folk F chord!. Instead of barring the entire first fret, press the 1st & 2nd strings (high E & B) with your index finger!. This chord is similar to C and G7!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I can't play it either!. I honestly don't understand how 5 fingers can play a chord that requires all 6 strings!.

People are just going to tell you have your fingers not positions correctly or just keep practicing!.!.!.That's the thing!. All guitarist had a problem with F chords, but when they finally learn they have no clue how to explain it to someone else!.

You could also finger it just like a D beginning on the 5th fret but the first answer is right about learning to bar those chords!. Your index finger takes the place of the nut and presses every string!. It will open up a whole new world of playing chords!. Keep playing to strengthen your fingers!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Practice your barre chords every day and you'll get better and stronger over time!. It's a process everyone goes through!.

In the meantime, another voicing of F Major would be xx3211, same chords but without the two thickest strings!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
