Hi, I'm only a sophomore, but I just completed my first marching band season as drum major! :))))

So, to be good, it takes a lot of stuff, and you need to build up to your audition, to show your director that you're really interested!.

Before the audition!.!.!.

Try out for solos, Offer underclassmen help with music, and really show your interest in leading your band!

There is a lot more to drum major than just keeping time and having a loud voice!. :) So, you should come up with a wicked cool salute to impress your director!. (Videos on YouTube, or even ask the current drum major!.) Work on mace, if your school does that!. Show creativity, and compassion toward your band mates!.

During the Auditions:

Make sure you really show your director that you want this; that you'll be the best person for this position!. Tell them what you think you can improve as drum major, and really show them your passion!. I can tell than if you're asking for help, you want this pretty badly!. So, good luck, and maybe I'll see you in competition!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I took a look at this the week before my audition and it really helped

also be aware some directors like to pick younger students as drum majors so they have a few years of experience!. Just keep that in mind!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As long as you can keep in time and yell loudly, you should do fine!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
