What is the differenece between an overdrive effects pedal and a distortion pedal!?

how about a metal distortion and a regular distortion pedal!?

Overdrive is like light distortion!. You can get this by a pedal or pushing the amp really hard!. AC/DC, Sammy Hagar, Judas Priest sound!.

Distortion is a bit heavier!. It sounds like Ozzy, Alice in Chains and more newer heavy metal stuff!.

Metal distortion pedal is just a lot more of distortion!.

Overdrive would probably be better for grunge, which is what I prefer!.
