Question: Is the book, "Wicked" anything like the Broadway play!?
I really want to read the book, "Wicked" and I really (one day) want to go see the play!. But I don't want to read the book first if it'll take away from me seeing the play!. So in a simple "yes or no" answer, let me know if it's anything like it or if it's not!.

The musical and the book have the same basic story line!.

I read the book first then saw the musical and became completely obsessed!. It's better to read the book then see the musical rather than the other way around so you don't have as many of the images from the musical in your head as you read!.

Wicked the book is an adult novel for very specific reasons of sex, swearing, and substantial discussions about the true nature of good and evil!. You need to have a mature standpoint if you do decide to read it!.

"Let 'Wicked' the musical be different from 'Wicked' the book, with my blessing!."- Gregory Maguire, author of Wicked!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I saw the musical before I read the book, and i must say!.!.!. don't bother with the book! They are very different from each other!. The book is a bit darker and moodier and it is a bit difficult to follow!. the musical, on the other hand is absolutely brilliant:) You definitely don't need to read the book in order to understand the play! If you do decide to read the book, don't let it affect whether you want to see the show, because the show is 100 times better (with a better ending too:)
