Your first question is acoustic or electric!. For electric, a guitar that you can play just about every thing on is a Fender Stratocaster!.

Heavier metal and blues, Les Pauls!.

Rockabilly or folk, A gretch!.

Country, a Fender Telecaster!.

I don't know much about acoustics, but I got a Mitchell (My first guitar) which I got for $200 and its pretty decent!.

When I first started playing I got a First Act acoustic!.They are the cheapest things around as far as I can tell!.!.!.thy're at Wal-Mart too =D I've got an Arbor at the moment, and it's not perfect, but with the right strings it sounds pretty good!. It depends how far you want to take it!. If you want to get a nice guitar to keep for a while!.!.!.Get somthing cheap the first time!.!.!.incase you deside guitar is not for you =D Maybe a First act or a Sunlite!. Just save the big brands like Fender or Gibson until you get rlly good =D

fender has a nice starter package!.!.!.i started with the starcaster, ibanez makes a really nice one as well!. it really depends on your music genre pref!. and dexterity before you start, if price is an issue get a starter package but if you are serious and plan to go all the way start with a gibson les paul then find yourself from thereWww@QuestionHome@Com
