Question: What is the difference between an Alto Saxophone and a Tenor Saxophone!?!?
I have been confused about that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Alto saxophone is smaller than the tenor in size!. They use different mouthpieces and reeds!. The tenor sax mouthpieces and reeds are bigger in size than Alto sax mouthpieces and reeds!. Tenor saxophone is in the key of B-flat, while Alto is in E-flat!. This means they cannot read the same sheet music!. Tenor saxophone is lower in pitch than compared to alto, to be exact, tenor is half an octave lower!. Tenor will require a bit more air than alto, since it is bigger!.

Though they are both saxophones, so they have the exact same fingerings!.

If your thinking about picking the other sax up, definitely do it!. Most saxophonists, if not all, usually play other saxes eventually!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it's like in singing, there's soprano's, alto's tenor's and basses same with saxes! there's a soprano, the smallest so it's the highest, alto it's big enough and lowish it's also the most popular and the tenor is bigger again and is lower (there's no bass sax, not to my knowledge anyway) hope this has helped and your not confused anymore!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yup!. The Alto sax is smaller and higher pitched, in the key of E flat!. The Tenor is lower than the alto and in the key of B-flat!. The bari is pretty big, plays lower than the tenor and in the key of E-flat!. The Soprano is higher than the alto and plays in the key of B-flat!.

Play the bari sax!. It build character!. ;)Www@QuestionHome@Com
