Question: Do You Have Any Clarinet Advice!?
I am 13, and have been playing the clarinet for 5 years!. I have a private teacher, and have lessons at school!. I want to be on the District Band Competition, and in the Penn State Blue Band!. Any Advice!? What books should I get, or that you recommend that are fun!? Yes, they can be Christmas!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
The Schirmer books with Todd Levy on clarinet and Elena Abend on piano are excellent books to learn from!. They come in beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels, so you can take your pick!. I would definitely listen to the CDs that are included also because you can learn a TON about controling your airstream!. That sort of control is what makes playing sound smooth and effortless!.

Rose Etudes are also beautiful and challenging!. Whatever you decide to tackle, all of these pieces are managable with slow and steady practice!.

Best of luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I recommend the book Foundations for Superior Performance to develop musicianship and basic techniques!.

For serious improvement, check out Voxman's Selected Studies for Clarinet!.

Neither of these books is "fun", but they will help you achieve your goals!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well in most malls there are music stores so try looking there!. If not ask your private teacher for things that are more advanced for you so in your free time you can try to learn them and be ahead!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
