Yeah, you need to put emotion into your music!.

Try this: go on youtube and look for 'oboe', you'll find a lot of amateurs playing and you'll see the difference between those who put emotion in and those that don't!. It can make it clearer in your mind - I did this with sax, and found it really useful to see how 'not' to play if you know what I mean!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do you even LIKE playing oboe!.!.!.!?
'cause it sounds like you don't!.!.!. that might be why you sound so "flat and dull"
Find songs you enjoy playing!.!.!.That might make you sound better!.

I have a friend who's a professional violinist, and one thing she does when she practices is that she'll sing the line the way she wants it to sound, then she imitates it on her violin!. Think about how you want the songs to sound - with emotion, the dynamics, the swells, -and then do your best to bring it out when you play!. Maybe your teacher can give you a few lessons after school, or you can ask your parents to get you private lessons!. I'm a string player, so as far as technique goes, I can't help you!. Usually though, exaggerating dynamic changes and emotional elements like rubato will help - add more than you think is necessary!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
