Question: What is the difference between tuning slides!?
i have a conn vintage one trumpet, and it came with two tuning slides!. one is round, while the other has more of a 'd' shape to it!. as far as the way the trumpet plays, what is different between the two slides!? i've been switching back and forth between them because i can't decide which one i actually like better!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, you are correct, the rounded tuning slide will help to make the trumpet a bit more free-blowing!. However, the D-shaped slide can add resonance, and it can provide more energy to the bell!. What feels right to you is as important as the sound that you produce!.

I found the greatest differences and advantage with the Vintage One by using the weighted bottom caps!. For me, using the heaviest combination with the rounded tuning slide was what made the horn "sing" the most!. It's worth taking the time to experiment with the different combination to find what works for you!. Once you've found it, leave it!.!.!. and, enjoy playing the horn!
