Question: Am i doing anything wrong with playing chords!? (guitar)!?
Ok well i just got a guitar not to long ago, and the problem for me is chords!.Im trying to teach myself how to play the guitar, butI cant seem to play the chords right and i dont know why!. For instance, lets say i go find tab for back in black (ACDC) and i try to play the chords, they dont sound ANYTHING like the song!? I try to find help, but it seems like im the only one with this problem!? My guitar is tuned, i have an Ibanez, with a line 6 spider 15 watt amp!. Oh and by the way, if its because i need practice, i will practice like CRAZY!. I love playing my guitar, but i just cant get down chords, and im NOT gonna give up on playin my guitar, its too much fun, but VERY frustrating!. So does anyone know why im having this problem!?

Well, there's a few things to take into account!. When you are playing the chord, make sure you're not putting in extra notes that don't belong in that chord!. Like if you finger a Dmaj and you hit every string, it will be a muddy mess!. The next thing is, make sure you are not flubbing any notes!. A problem I had when I first starting playing, was my fingers would flub the surrounding notes and ruin my chord!.
A good way to check this is to do the chord shape, and then pluck each individual note in that chord to make sure each note rings clearly and then strum it!.
also, the strumming technique!. To get certain sounds, you use different techniques and strumming!. If the guitarist in the song is using a down down up up down pattern and you are playing all downs, or down up down up, then you won't get the same effect!.
Another thing, TABs are inheritantly wrong!. I'm against using tablature, I thing transcribing by ear is the best way to go!. It does wonders for your playing and all the great guitar players learned by ear!. Its difficult at first!.
Okay, and just trying to learn songs isn't going to make you a good guitar player!. You gotta learn your music theory, chords, scales, strumming techniques, etc!. Learn riffs and licks tips and tricks!. This is so you can put together the language of music and make sense!.

First you want to make sure you are in the right tuning for the song some songs and in drop d, drop c ect!. when you are strumming make sure you only hit the strings you need like on a power cord on the E sting you only hit the E,A, and D strings not all of them, also very important make sure that you are holding all of the notes down
