If you want to expand your music horizons a little and learn some incredible techniques, a good place to look is The Beatles!. Especially the later stuff, Paul McCartney is an amazing bassist and you can learn a lot from him!.

Chris Novaselic from Nirvana is a great bass player!. The song Sliver has a great bass line it, the first verse is actually only the bass and drums!.

Les Claypool is a pretty incredible bassist!. I would look to him for some tricks and techniques!.

I strongly believe that the best reason to learn a song is to take those tips and tricks from that song and put it toward your original work!. And those three off the top of my head are great people to learn from!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I definately have to agree with learning some Beatles, and especially some of there later music, such as Abbey Road!.

Geddy Lee from Rush, Chirs Squire of Yes, the late John Entwistle of the Who are some of the masters of Rock Bass!. Any type of blues music has great bass lines to!. A lot of fundamental basics, with walking bass lines that cover about any type of scale!.
