Depending on genre (especially) and/or the type of audition!.!.!. If you are a classical pianist (concert pianist), memorizing is a prerequisite!. If we're talking about jazz, then playing by charts could be an advantage!. If your genre is pop, again, you should memorize!. Depending on what you're auditioning for: if it's for a job in a band/orchestra, then you definitely should play by score/chart; if it's for a solo position, then you should memorize!.

best luck with your auditionWww@QuestionHome@Com

That depends!. There are two different settings for both!. Usually for classical where you are critiqued on your movements and all, yes, you should have it memorized!. If what you are playing is more like chords and rock and jazz, then no need for memorization!. Good luck!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Check out YouTube for a young piano prodigy named Georgy!.!.he goes by Pianoloverok !.!.type that in search window and search under 'channels' by clicking the dialogue box beside search window!.!.he does not take sheet music!.!.you will really enjoy this young fellow if you love piano!.!.he's excellent!!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
