Question: Sometimes I can play well, but sometimes I can't on the flute!?
I've just started playing the flute for a few months, but I'm a bit puzzled!.

Sometimes, I can play very well, and I can easily make a note sound as rich as possible!. And other times, it sounds a lot more airy, and it's a lot harder to get some sound out!. It alternates between the two sporadically!. I'm putting it together the exact same way, using the exact same embouchure, using the exact same technique, and yet it's almost as if it's another flute!. It used to be very bright, but now it's slowly diminishing!. I always clean the flute and make sure my mouth is clean before and after I play, and I always keep it in the case to prevent damage!. I don't know what's wrong!. Please help!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your flute is an organic instrument, it changes with the weather, heat, time of day, etc!. So is your playing!. Any musician can have a good day or bad day and not much else in the way of explaining it!. You are in the very early stages of learning so I think it is important that you get a teacher and stick with it!. Soon the mysteries will be no longer mysteries, and you will get a consistent sound more and more as you get better!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The flute changes with the weather, heat, cold, etc!. Since you are just learning, I would suggest to get a teacher to make you better!. Everyone can have good days and bad days though when you are playing your instrument!.!. it doesn't matter if it's flute, trumpet, tuba, percussion, etc!. I'm a percussionist and I know I can have my good and bad days!. lolWww@QuestionHome@Com
