Second tenor is more comfortable for most young men, since you do not have to worry about all the VERY high notes in first tenor!. Again, this has NOTHING to do with rank, quality, experience, etc!. Professional French horn players *specialize* in playing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, of 4th horn! It is all about the sound, their most adept range, power, etc!. Many times, ALL then tenors sing together - so no problem! And h your chorus teacher must have noticed that you have a really good EAR, to put you in an *inside part* - where you can hold onto the richest notes of the harmony, yet step out with the melody whenever the entire tenor section gets it!

2nd tenor is a slightly lower voice range!. It has nothing to do with the quality of your singing!. It is possible with experience that your upper range will grow and improve!.
