You can surely learn it without a teacher, just much slower unless you've played brass before!.

If you don't know how to read music then find a beginners book, almost any will teach you how to read effectively!. Become great at reading, period!.

Once that is over with, then move on up to the Arban's Book, it will be you're best friend forever!. A nice order to go in is:

Beginning studies
Rhythmic patterns
Scales (major/minor)
Arpeggios
Slurring
Intervals
Double/Triple tonging
Ornaments
Characteristic studies
All the random songs in the back of the book

Then you can pretty much play whatever you wantWww@QuestionHome@Com

You'll have to develop very strong mouth muscles, with the right embouchure!. This is the trickiest part that is difficult to learn from a book!. You want to make sure this is developed the right way from the beginning to prevent technical problems later!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
