Question: Don't you find it silly that most beginner bassists chose bass instead of guitar because "noone else plays it"!?

Seriously, I have friends who are like that!. They want to be "original and unique"!. I mean, not many people choose bass for a REASON; not offending any bass players or anything but!.!.!. if you learn guitar sooner or later you're going to know how to play bass as well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes!. If everyone keeps saying I'm going to play bass because no one else plays it then, well there would be a lot of bass players!. I could go in circles about it but whats the use!. Bottom line!. You're right!. Because there a lot of people playing bass for some reason though nobody realizes itWww@QuestionHome@Com

But those people usually turn out to be lousy bass players !

It isn't so simple to just switch from guitar to bass!. Guitarists are good at melody and chords, but bassists have to think of music differently - using a combination of rhythm and melody!. A good bassist thinks more like a drummer, and his/her goal is to make everybody else in the band sound better!.

BTW, I taught myself to play bass, long before I learned guitar!. I just love the way a bass sounds ! Don't care about image or being "unique"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The same thing happened to some of my friends!. I play bass myself but i was drawn by the instrument and the sound not the amount of people playing!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Bass is easier & quicker to learn!.
Maybe they start with Bass and then learn the Guitar!Www@QuestionHome@Com
