Question: What is the circumference of a flute!? A piccolo!?

As in, if you wrapped a tape measure around it, without the keys, how wide is the tubing!? Thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi Liz!.

It is pretty difficult to wrap a tape measure around the tubing of a flute or piccolo!.!.!.!. But I do have a suggestion for you that will be easier!. Take a piece of dental floss or just a string and wrap that around the tubing!. Cut to fit and then measure that with the ruler!. Make it easy on yourself and wrap it around the head joint tubing as that is the same as the bodies of the instruments!.

As for the tubing, it depends on the flute being thin wall ( 0!.14) - medium wall ( 0!.16)- or heavy wall (0!.18) gauge!.
