What in particular do you feel its holding you back from!?

I also play metal!. I inherited a Squire once from a friend of mine, and it was comfortable enough guitar -- nice action that was easy on the hands, alright sound, reasonably sturdy construction!. But i sure wouldn't want to play gigs with it!. It slipped out of tune a bit easier than i'd like, especially considering all the jostling an instrument on tour can get!. For metal i wasn't totally satisfied with the pickups it came with!. Eventually i put a new neck on it and some new pickups (both i got hand-me-down, i wouldn't've spent money on it) and it became a much nicer instrument!.

I haven't played with the 15G but given its 15 W rating and just knowing how those little practice amps are in general, that might actually be limiting the ability to get a more hard-rock/metal tone out of your guitar!. Those little amps tend to sound a bit thin!.

So its probably not holding you back from honing your technique, learning new nuances of theory, or jamming!. But if you want to play out more, or fine-tune your tone, you might think about getting something new!. I might start by upgrading the amp, and latter the guitar!.

Haha that's funny, I bought exactly the same starter pack that you did :)!. I think, as you have been playing for 6 years now, that you are probably ready for something slightly better quality!. I doubt that you are terrible, I think it's probably the guitar that is holding you back!. I'm not exactly an expert on metal and rock, so I'm not sure what guitar would be best for you!. The best advice I can give is to go to your nearest guitar store and ask the assistants for help; they usually play guitar themselves and can give really good advice!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
