It's not that hard at all! I started as a flute player, and in college, as a music education major, had to learn all the instruments!. You'll probably find sax quite easy!.

Not all the fingerings are the same!. They're basically the same, with minor adjustments!. One nice thing about the sax is that there is an octave key, which means you essentially pop down the thumb on your left hand, and poof- up an octave!. None of this overblowing business!

The hardest part for me was developing the strength of my muscles around my mouth!. also, you might get a bit of a callous on the inside of your bottom lip from where you fold your lip over your teeth!. I'm not a big fan of the way the mouthpiece vibrates against my top teeth either!.!.!.!.but that's just me!.

Good luck! I say go for it!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is absolutely not hard!!! I switched from flute to saxophone last year and I will not regret it!! It does have the same fingerings, except for the c b and higher notes!. but it is in a different key!. and if you do switch I would recommend you buy some vandoren 2!.5 reeds!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I used to play flute and my brother plays the sax!. I think what your teacher meant is that it's easier than most transitions from one instrument to another since all the flute and saxophone fingerings for the notes are the same!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
