The "best" schools for performance will offer performing groups that fit your area of interest!. A very important aspect of your schooling is the private teacher with whom you will study!. In your search of universities, look specifically for the brass department, or trombone department, to see the credentials of the teachers!. See where those teachers studied, as that may also help you to determine who some of the top teachers in the country are!. You should also look for schools that have an active trombone ensemble!. Likewise, since music performance is your desired path, research the trombone section of major orchestras or performing groups that match your musical focus!.!.!. classical, jazz, etc!., and read where the members of the trombone section studied, or where they may be teaching!.

The International Trombone Association website is one that you will want to become familiar with!. You can ask questions there, as well!.
