It depends on what position you're in!.
2nd position, 1st finger would be C, 2nd D, 3rd E, 4th F!.
3rd position, 1st finger would be D, 2nd E, 3rd F, 4th G!.
4th position, 1st finger would be E, 2nd F, 3rd G, 4th A!.
5th position, 1st finger is F, 2nd G, 3rd A, 4th B!.

Since you seem to be new at shifting, you should go into 3rd position, therefore the F would be 3 fingers!. Always make sure your thumb is even with your 1st finger no matter where you hand is positioned on the fingerboard!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've been playing for nearly seven years!. There are different positions in which you can play in!. The 'normal' one is first!. When you shift to third position, a common one, you want to lead with a certain finger!. But what is third position!? When you play a G on the D string, it uses your third finger!. When you replace that third finger with your first finger, you are now in third position!. Do not attempt to try these until you teacher has notified you though!. And for the F on the E string, you can play it in a varaity of ways!. But just listen to your teacher and don't try to get ahead!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
