Question: Help on maintaining a flute!?
I own a flute that I haven't played in many years!. Is there something I should do on a regular basis that will prevent it from getting ruined!? I don't know what it's made of, but it's a western concert flute!. I keep it in a case, within a leather bag that is zipped up, so it should be fairly airtight!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No matter what you do a flute that isn't used or regularly maintained will start to deteriorate!. Your pads are going to start drying up and splitting and it might get tarnished!. The best thing to do is to take it out every 2 weeks and play it a little just to get some moisture in to it!. But that will only prolong the inevitable of it just breaking down!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A flute which is not played will deteriorate over a period of time!.
Tarnish
Dried pads
and a few other things will happen!.
My question is why are you storing it!? Use it, sell it or give it a way!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
