I'm not interested, by the way, but I always wondered why say, Pavarotti could make his voice reach what it did, and I can't, or why Katherine Jenkins can 'tremble' her voice at really high notes!?
Is it a skill that they are taught, and so can anyone do it with practise, or do they have a natural advantage in that their voice-box structure is different!?Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: First you need the instrument - some people have the equivalent of a grand piano in their throat, while others have lesser instruments, and of course there are those poor souls who are tone deaf!. The vocal chords are important, along with other physical attributes which give the potential to sing like that!. They also determine the range of the voice, which can be extended somewhat by studying under a good teacher, but are mostly innate!. Practice in voice placement and breathing are necessary to perfect the sound, which may vary with loudness/softness and emotion required, or vary to produce a "tremble"!. Both require Talent and usually training!.It is important to develop a particular style along with power, diction etc!. in classical music!. In Opera, to be a success you need to understand foreign languages!. Instruction, study, practice, experimentation and on & on!. There are a few great imitators, but performing in Opera day in and day out is another story!. I can sing, have always been able to sing, but it wasn't until I actually had voice lessons from a professional, in college (I'm a voice major) that I could actually sing opera!. When someone has a superb voice like Pavarotti it's because those muscles are extra large!.!.!.!.a freak of nature!. Wish I had freaky vocals!. Some people have innate singing talent that requires little training, while some need more training to hone their abilities!.
