If you can play acoustic guitar then you can also play the bass, some of the chords of the acoustic guitar are same as the bass!.!. Since Bass has 4 strings then it's much easier than acoustic 6-stings guitar!. But i would suggest acoustic, you can also learn some of the chords (for the bass too) and acoustic is kinda the original guitar!.

It's hard to play bass by yourself - how often have you seen a solo bass player!. I say acoustic guitar - many styles and you can play by yourself!. But what do I know - I am a clawhammer (old time) banjo player! I played a bit of guitar in college but it was too many strings for my small hands!.

I recommend you rent a guitar from a music store (or borrow one from a friend) first, and get some instructional materials from the library (fingerstyle and strumming chords)!. Then see how you like it!. And you could try the same thing with a bass!. If you plan to play with a band, a bass would be ok!.

And with either, you will probably have to trim your fingernails short, at least on your fretting hand!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

First, bass is a different instrument from guitar!. The only types of guitars are acoustic, electric, and classical!.

You have a big goal, but is that your ONLY goal!? Why do you want to play guitar!? I'll tell you my reasons, because I wanted to play like John Mayer and I had a love of music!.

Once you figure that out, I suggest acoustic because it will build your finger strength since the strings require more pressure to hold down and produce a sound!. If you move on to electric later on, it'll be easier!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you should play whichever seems more interesting!. They're both really fun!. Guitar is a little more fun alone but if you want to play with other people, everyone needs a bass player!. Most important is the one that you like more!. What do you want to play!?

No one else can really decide this for you!. If you're not into it, you wont still be playing it in college!. So ignore all of us, have a go with both via a friend or rental and see which one is calling your name!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
