I play clarinet, do you think I could play trumpet?

Question: I play clarinet, do you think I could play trumpet!?

I am 1st chair in my school's band so it's important for me to keep my clarinet skills sharp!. However, I want to play trumpet because I love the sound of it and I want to play jazz!. I know the emboucher is way different!. Do you think it would mess up my clarinet skills if I played trumpet too!? Do you think I can do it!? Is it even possible!? I will not be dropping the clarinet no matter what, and playing saxophone or another woodwind is not an option!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, in fact just the opposite!. You'll actually use some to the same muscles but in a stronger and more controlled manner!. In addition, your diaphragm and rib muscles will get much stronger, so breath support on clarinet will be much easier!.

Of course you can! It would be difficult, yes!. BUT! It's worth it!. I notice that the more instruments I learn how to play, the better I play on all of them!. The different instruments have certain qualities that help you play other instruments well too!. So I say go for it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As long as you put forth your best effort, there is no reason you can't do anything you put your mind to!. Trying new things is a great way to keep down boredom and boost self confidence!. Many people, including myself, can play more than one instrument!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i dont think it would mess up your sound, but it will definatley not be easy!. Unless you mess up fingerings on the clarinet you cant miss a note!. Trumpet only has three vowves so you have to buzz!. good luck!

Of course you can! You can do anything you put your mind to!. I even went from trumpet to snare drums!. lol Www@QuestionHome@Com

i play clarinet too but it isnt simple to switch if u do switch do private lessons =]
