Part of it depends on the brand and materials!.!.!. if it's plastic (which I suspect it is) it is a student model!. Unfortunately the resale on student model clarinets is pretty low!.!.!. you can find a NEW high quality student model for less than $800!.

I usually recommend cutting HALF the original purchase price, plus subtract $20 - $40 for EACH of the following:
dried out, cracked, chipped, or missing cork
missing pads, pads that don't seal, or pads that are peeling
scratches in the finish, chips, noisy keys, missing screws, missing mouthpiece, ligature, or cap!.

also, let her know that there are mouthpiece patches she can buy (I think a 4 pack for about $2!.00) and put on the mouthpiece to protect it from further "tooth damage"!.

Good luck! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

We are buying our friend's used clarinet for $200!.00!. It needs new reeds, of course, but the rest of it looks new!. It was also between $700!.00 and $800!.00 when new!. We are in the midwest if that helps!.

If you need to know, the brand is Selmer and the music director checked it out and said everything was in great shape (except for the dried out reeds)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would say around $650, It is still going to be cheaper than anything else she will have to buy, and also, she can feel comfortable asking you for help!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
