You are a perfect example of why teaching yourself often fails,
Get some instruction from a live person paid or free, but where they can see and hear your progress!. That is the only way that mistakes are going to be caught early before they become serious or in your case, discouraging problems!. The use of web sites is a bonus, but not the way improve your skills and definitely not the way to begin!.!.
Learning to fly an airplane over the net, would most likely kill you!. Learning the guitar on the net, could make you another lousy guitar player!.

Good Luck

Save the tuning for when you get really good and are able to get your guitar back to standard tuning!.

Everybody's different and everybody learns at different rates, so an answer to your first question varies!. But for your second question, you are practicing correctly!. Keep doing repetitive practicing for whatever hard stuff comes your way and you'll be fine!.

Just a note: one day you will plateau and that calls for a guitar instructor to get you back on track!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Explore new chords like power chords, if i were you id get into guitar theory and learn the caged chord system that will show you how to make the chords for the song that your feeling pick up a book on guitar theory!. then you can lean the scales!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would say if you can GET A TEACHER it helps tremendously also look around on the internet it is probably one of the most usefull things to have when you play guitar!. You can learn so many things from the interent for example i go onto youtube and i learned how to sweep pick!. But to answer your question I think that in three months you could have learned a little bit more but idk like by the time i was playing for three months i could play some songs mostly Iron Maiden but they were still hard back then!. The first song I fully learned was Aces High by Iron Maiden and that was like 3!.5 months in!. And you seem to be practicing right but you just need to expand a little bit more!. Maby learn the CAGED theory or just music theory in general, learn your notes, and learn a couple scales to play around with so that you can have some fun!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
