I could just give you the definitions, but I believe a better route is for you to discover for yourself how to make the most of any guitar you have, and what to do if it something should "go south!."

All of the sites I'm providing will give you plenty of tips and answers!. Since you're a beginner, I highly suggest you spend a few hours on Google researching such things as intonation,set-ups, truss rods, etc!. Once you've looked at the info I'm giving you, get ready to Google for more!. This is research you will never regret!

also, kudos to you for putting forth the effort to "know your guitar!." Too many beginners just want to know how to play a particular song and how to play it just like "the guy in the video!." I don't think I have to tell you how absurd this is!

In any case, have fun and don't be surprised if you get hooked on similar sites!.

I don't know how to explain what bridge intonation is, but to check if your intonation is out, get a tuner, play an open E string and make sure it's in tune!. Then, on the same string, play the A at the fifth fret and make sure that's also in tune!. Do this to every string!. If the notes at the fifth fret are way out of tune, take it to someone who can service it, they'll know what to do!.
And all necks are bowed a little bit!. if your guitar came with a setup booklet it should tell you how to adjust it so that your neck is bowed to suit your particular guitar!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
