Question: Playing the violin with braces!?
They put on my braces yesterday and now that I pick up my violin it's not comfortable to play because I can't close my teeth properly!. Is there anyone else out there who has had the same problem!? Does it go away after a while or do I need to give up on playing until I'm done with the braces!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

You'll probably have to try holding it a few different ways until you find something that is comfortable with your braces!. Give it a few days, too, so you get used to having them on!.

Once you get used to the way your mouth is closing now, and then adjust the way you hold your violin!. There's absolutely nothing stopping you from playing while you have your braces!. You may just have to tweak the way you hold it for a while!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think it'll go away after a while!. I wore braces from December 2006 and I removed them in March this year!. Now I'm on retainers!.

It's probably the new feel of the braces because I could still play normally with them!. After two weeks or so, it should feel just like how you were before you put braces on!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it will go away!.!.!. it will last about a week or two!.
u think u had it bad!.!.!. i play Trumpet and French Horn!!! try playing brass with freshly put on braces!.!.!. ouch!
i swear, i used more wax in one music lesson than the average bee produces in a lifetime!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It will go away, but don't suffer!. Get a pad for the chin rest!. That is not a shoulder rest!.
They make foam rubber pads, but you can make your own and you won't be using it long!.

it'll go away!. Everything is tough to do the first few days with braces!. You'll get used to it!. If not talk to your orthodontist!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

This will most definetely go away after a few weeks once your teeth start to straighten out!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
