Id say that you can ceratinly learn the basics for yourself form books websites and form just practicing with whatever gear you can get your hands on!.

The next step is getting an entry level job at a studio which can be extremely hard depending on where you are and what (and who) you know already!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is possible to teach yourself the basics!. At the point that you know the basics you can get into an entry level job and they might pay for further schooling!. It also depends of if you can learn on your own, if you can thats great, schools teach one way of doing things whereas if you do things on your own you develop your own style and sound much faster!.
