Question: Have you ever tried to use egg crates to make the sound a little dryer in your recording space!?
Does it work as well as that expensive studio foam!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yeah i have, its basically the same idea, but if you are really discerning you might wanna get the audio foam because the shape of it really helps out better!. Plus it just looks more professional!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They also call some products "egg-crate sound-proofing" because of the shape--it tends to do a better job of deadening sound!.

But that stuff can be expensive!. Do what I did:

Buy 2-4 84" curtains and hang them from the walls like tapestries!. Then carpet the floor and have big puffy blankets on hand (for stuffing in corners and hanging over furniture) when you actually do the recording!. Works like a charm!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Egg crates was a standard thing to use in the 70's!. That's what everyone used back then!.

If you have a lot of them lying around, I don't see any harm in trying it!.
Then if that's not good enough then you can invest in the studio foam!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The only problem that I see is the new crates are usually foam pressed into shape with a non porous surface!. the old crates were shredded paper molded to shape and was very porous
