Question: How to turn midi files into playable sheet music!?
Ive been playing alto sax and trumpet for more than a year now and have made some pretty quick progress!. Im pretty bored with the songs in the Standard of Excellence books that we use at school because most of them are like 10 seconds long!. Instead, I want to be able to play some songs that I like such as What a Wonderful World!. Ive been using many midi converting programs (Anvil, Noteworthy Composer,Midi Illustrator to name a few) to try to turn midi files into playable sheet music!. However, instead of getting one single melody, I get a whole bunch of different parts playing the song!. Is there a program or source where I can get free midi files into playable sheet music!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Try one of these!.
I don't know how good they work!. But if they don't so so good, just google
"MIDI"+"sheet music"+Convert" and you'll get a bunch of different hits!.

Or try muting the channels on the stuff you have already but keep your part to play and then see if it prints out that part onlyWww@QuestionHome@Com

www!.finalemusic!.com!. Download Finale Notepad 2008!. The 09 version will NOT be free - but 08 still is!. It will open MIDI files!. However - depending upon a LOT of factors, they still might come out all on one track!. Try opening your MIDI files in different ways, if you are prompted to do so!. This will CHANGE for the next files you download - since that one was digitized by someone else! I am an arranger, and lots of times can find that someone else has done a lot of the work FOR me already - I need to seriously tweak what I download, but can get away with their initial sequencing as a timesaver!.

It is possible that the software you already have can also do this - just open the MIDI file with separate tracks, not everything dumped together!. If you do not understand the *midi format8 directions, experiment until you get closer to what you wnat!. Again - free stuff is often harder to use, since you are on your own! Good luck - this is GREAT that you are doing thi!. My adult, degreed, HS music teacher son is now getting hi Masters in Digital Music - I am BEYOND JEALOUS!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com
