Question: I have a hard time singing in front of people!. Help!?
I don't have the greatest voice in the world, but even when my friends are all singing I can't even open my mouth-even if I do know the words to the song inside and out!.

I think the reason for me being scared is because I'm afraid of what they'll think-and everyone else!. Is this normal!? (To fix this-and because I want to perform-I'm considering singing lessons)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I bet you sound better than you think you do! I'd suggest recording yourself singing, and then play it back so you get used to hearing your own voice!. Watch yourself in the mirror when you sing!. Sing in the shower!.!.!.anything to get yourself singing more!. Try singing along with the radio in the car!. You know others might see you at a stoplight, but they can't hear you!. LOL

Do you have any little kids in your life!? Sing with them! Kids love to sing, and they don't care what you sound like!. That might be a good way to work into it!.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself!. It sounds like it's more of a self confidence thing, rather than a voice quality thing!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not many people like the sound of their own voice!. I have sung in front of people for years and still hate the sound of it! It is perfectly normal!. Nerves do all sorts of weird things to your singing voice from restricting air flow to tightening the muscles in your vocal chords causing your pitch to be inaccurate!. If you really want to perform, then you need to perform as often as you can!. There really is no short cut to beating stage fright!. On the vocal side of things singing lessons are never a bad idea if you have the money!. A competent vocal instructor will know how to get the most out of your voice!. Just be sure to find an instructor who will push your voice in the right direction!. You wouldn't want to unintentionally wind up an opera singer!Www@QuestionHome@Com

The lessons are a great idea!.
Stage Fright stops many a performer from success!. There are many suggestions running from picturing your audience in their underwear to eating a certain fruit, pretending you are alone etc!.
I have found a method that worked wonders for me and I have taught others to use it with great success!.
Focus on the performance!. If it is music:
You concentrate on each tone, where the melody is going!. If your mind is on giving the best performance and if you are into the piece, you will not be thinking about the audience!. Not only does it eliminate your stage fright, you become a better performer!. The same things can easily be adapted to public speaking or to the stage!.
Good LuckWww@QuestionHome@Com

You are feeling a normal emotion that as humans we all have to a degree!. In my past I've been advised to look at my audience as if they were in their under wear!. Its funny but it did help me on my public speeches!. It would be a good ideal to take singing lessons to help your vocals!. And you should be able to get advice and encouragement from family and friends!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Don't Worry! Everyone gets a little nervous when they are performing in front of others!

Why don't you try making a recording of yourself singing and uploading it to a site such as www!.talenttrove!.com! You can get constructive feedback from the talenttrove community!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sounds like a bad case of Stage Fright!. Ok!. Here's what you do: Just go for it in front of your friends, especially if they are singing along with you!. They are your friends, and won't make fun of you for your voice!. After that, slowly go into singing by yourself (go for the voice lessons you will love them!) then one day, you will be able to perform (even if it's just singing your heart out as you walk :) )Www@QuestionHome@Com

i sound like a 8 yr!.old girl when i sing!.!.lol and i got a bunch of the karaoke revolution games for ps2 and i was kinda nervous singing infront of everyone 2 but you'll eventually get over it, just have fun and dont worry about what anyone else will think, good luck hun!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yeah, this is normal, but don't worry, you are your biggest critic!. I doubt that you are as bad as you say you are!. Just have fun, thats what singing is about!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
