Hey, thanks for adding me as a contact!. I used to play guitar as a hobby!. I started when I was 9 years old!. Although Mark and Thew are giving pretty good suggestions, I definately differ!.
First of all, as a woman I would suggest getting a good nylon string guitar to start with!. That is what I did and it helped my poor tender fingertips!. also, you are going to find that the hand you use to hold chords and make notes with will have to have SHORT nails!. The other hand can have nails!. In fact, your nails will come in handy for picking the strings!.
I am not a professional, but I had a great deal of pleasure playing!. After I started I bought another guitar that had metal strings!. I could change off as my finger tips got sore!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Take a step back and get a few years of experience first!.

First of all, a "classical" guitar is an acoustic guitar!. People call them classical typically when they have lower tension necks and nylon strings - as opposed to steel/nickel!.

The choice of guitar type, string type, etc simply alter the sound of the guitar!. Which guitar you use will be mostly influenced by 1) the style of music you're playing, and 2) your personal preferences!.
When you have more experience you'll be able to answer your question for yourself!.

If you're asking because you want to buy your first guitar - unless you're going to be playing primarily spanish/flamenco or classical music, I'd recommend against getting a nylon-strung guitar!. Just start with an inexpensive one (eg, Rogue RA-100D, Jasmine by Takamine S35, or any decent-sounding used guitar you can find)!.

Take it one step at a time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You ned to know all guitars, maybe, even bass, electric guitar, violin ,mandolin, ukulele, banjo, etc!. It gives you a broader view of stringed Instruments, and what the hey!. You can say you play them all!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
