my sister, her boyfriend, and i are going to see the lord of the rings symphony, but none of us has ever been to anything like that!.!.!. soooo we have no clue what to wear!.!.!.

The general code of dress is smart casual!. Wear something that looks a bit dressy and generally nicer than you'd usually wear, but you don't have to go overboard, although there are heaps of people who do!Www@QuestionHome@Com
People often use this as an opportunity to dress up!. You will often see people dressed in anything from elegant formal evening wear to nice business attire!. But it also depend on the city!. But that being said, the symphony attire will conform to the culture around it!. I'm not sure how dressy St!. Louis gets -- but assume what people wear to a "nice event" is what they'll wear to the symphony!.
Dressing down is not expected!.
Just think elegant and simple -- don't overdress -- and you'll be fine!.
