Question: 5th chair in orchestra!.!.!.!?
Im sorry if this story may seem childish or stupid, but Yahoo answers was created (so no rude comments!.!.only real serious answers)to help and answer peoples questions so here i go:

Im usually REALLY great at violin, and when we had our seting auditions at my school, i totally messed up and got 5th chair!. Sure!.!.its not that bad, or whatevevr but my moms really strict and shes korean and she yelled at me for just joking around with the fact that i might not get 1st chair!. Shes going to find out sooner or later!. I dont want to get in trouble, and i cant "retake" the seating auditions!. Im positive!. What should i do!? (please dont say tell her the truth ive heard that one wayy too many times today)Www@QuestionHome@Com

have you asked your director about challenging for the chair!?

Oh gosh, I know some parents like that!.

I agree with the other posters that you can move up by challenging for chair positions!. But don't let that become too competitive, or you may alienate some peers!.

Remind your mom that music is supposed to be fun, and chair position isn't everything!. You can still learn a lot about getting along within a team!.

I agree, ask your director about challenging!. If that doesn't work, just ask first chair if you can borrow her/his seat for any concerts! I wish your mom was understanding!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
