Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I know quite a few people who can play by ear!. I do not normally claim to have that skill, but like most musicians I can do a little!.
Most people with good musical skills can develop their playing by ear!.
I envy those who can do both, by ear and from music!.
I have never heard of anyone who sat down at the piano and was able to play the very first time!.
As to definition of (Play by Ear) at the Piano
It varies from hearing a simple tune many times and then be able to repeat it at the piano!. Almost everyone can do this singing!.
The other extreme is that some people can hear something complicated only once and be able to play it immediately!.

It just means a person can hear it and then play it!. You can't really learn, it's kind of a born-with-it thing!. I guess the person can just think what its going to sound like or hit specific notes and decide if it sounds right!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
