Question: What do you wear to the opera!?

I'm going to the opera for the first time, but i don't know what to wear!. I know people used to go in evening dresses, but i don't know if they do that anymore!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Metropolitan Opera House provides this dress code information(www!.metopera!.org):
"There is no dress code at The Met!. People tend to dress more formally for Galas or openings of new productions, but this is optional!. We recommend comfortable clothing appropriate for a professional setting!."

If it isn't opening, try wearing a nice dress or coordinating skirt and top!. There's no need for an evening gown; something nice, like you would wear to a wedding would work!. You could also go for the classic little black dress!. If you have something sleeveless or short sleeve, just add a shawl, wear your hair and makeup just a little more special than usual and choose appropriately dressy shoes and handbag!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
