Yes, you taught yourself to play, that makes you an autodidact!. That's what the word "autodidact" means -- someone who teaches themselves!.

A lot of people attempt to learn guitar that way, its not that unusual!. Some people who teach themselves end up learning to play very well!. But a lot of others who try to teach themselves never get very good or go very far with the guitar!. They fail to learn the proper way to do things, so their poor technique holds them back later!. Or they learn a few songs from tabs but can't play by ear, or understand scales, or read music, or play a steady rhythm, and so they don't play well!.

Lessons are still a good idea for most people!. I'm sorry your guitar teacher taught you nothing after a year of lessons, but I can't help but think you had something to do with it!. It wasn't ALL the teacher's fault!. Maybe you just didn't want to learn classical guitar so you didn't make the effort to learn!? You wanted to play electric guitar instead!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

Work on your grammer!. It's not he "learned me nothing" it should me "I didn't learn anything" or he "taught me nothing" Www@QuestionHome@Com
