Question: Terrible Banjo tuning!?
I found a reallly old banjo in my basement and recently bought new strings for it!. I strung it and went to some online tuner site and also looked at some youtube videos on tuning!. Now I was able to sync the strings to the proper notes (according to my tuner) but they still seem really low and they also seem pretty loose!. Now I have no idea if I should tune it higher which brings it to different note or lower which keeps it at GDGBE but loose strings!.

Can anyone help!? ><Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi

Don't forget that the G should be tuned to the second octave and not a low G
The best way is to tune it with a pitch pipe preferably rather than an electronic tuner!. Secondly, make sure the bridge is closer to the rear and not smack in the middle!. Otherwise, this will loosen the strings considerable and make sure that the skin is tight as well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
