Question: How horribly will my guitar play on drop C with 10's!?
My gibson les paul currently uses 9's and when i tune it to drop C, the strings feel like rubber bands!. I also have an ESP LTD dj-600, which doesn't have any strings on it right now!. I have a set of Elixir 10's right now!. I also have a set of 12's coming in the mail!. The ESP has a Floyd Rose locking system, which makes changing strings a pain in the ***!. Will my ESP play alright with the 10's if I tune it to drop C, or is it better to just wait a while for the 12's to come in the mail!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

i guarantee that ESP won't stay in tune for a minute!. I have trouble keeping my LTD in tune when I go to drop-D and use the locking system!. when you put on those 12's, make sure that the bridge isn't jacked up or has too much tension!. I'm so terrified that I still play the 9-42 and use my other guitar for downtuning!. But if you or a pro can set it up, put on those 12s!. you're on the right track with your thinking!. it's gonna sound a lot heavier with chunky strings on it too!. which i assume anyone playing an ESP is going for!. metal to the death!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi Atrey

Why do you want to dop the tuning in the first place !? That is the worse thing to do for a guitar and its fingerboard!. The shims that are under the fingerboard helps adjust the fingerboard via the truss rod!.

You can drop the E to D but to drop the whole tuning, you will ruin your neck eventually and it will become bumpy with time!.

If you want to do it, then, put !.011 or !.012!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
