There are so many benefits of learning a musical instrument!
It can develop your artistic ability so much, and gives you an "ear" for pitch!. It will broaden your musical horizens, andlooks very good on a CV, even if you're not applying for a musical job!.
it also allows you to make new friends and prove that you can practise even if you don't want to, and that you can multitask!

Hope that helps :D

Well, if you're already learning an instrument and can't see the benefit of it, then maybe for you, there is none!. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but its true!.

People who play music, who pursue it with passion and dedication, do so because they love it!. They're passionate about the music they play, whatever style it may be; they love the process of practicing and refining and developing their skills on the instrument; of setting goals and accomplishing them, of seeing themselves take on something that seemed impossible and mastering it over time!.

Plus, there is always the opportunity to play music with other people, either just for fun in an informal jam situation or in a more formal band, orchestra, jazz combo, whatever!. Playing music is, IMO, one of the most satisfying and fun things you can do with a group of people!. its a wonderful social outlet as well as being a creative thrill!.

Anyway, if this hasn't been your experience up till now in your learning of the cello, then maybe cello isn't really your instrument!. Or maybe you're just not meant to be a musician!. Maybe you're a visual artist, or an athlete or a writer, and not a musician!. YOU need to think about that!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Playing an instrument helps build creativity, experimenting with different methods of playing and creating your own melodies, styles and personality within the instrument!. also, it gives you something to talk about with your friends!.

Personally I would pick something a bit more versatile, the guitar for example!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It can be relaxing and personally satisfying!.
It can lead to a part time or full time job that you enjoy!.
If you join a group or orchestra, it can be a great way to meet people and develop deep friendships that last a lifetime!.
You can pick up and play related instruments that are fun for camping, retreats, festivals, fairs and other types of informal activities -- like banjo, ukele, & mandolin!.

Another tip -- if you find yourself losing interest in the particular instrument you are on now, you might try to experiment with another instrument before giving up music altogether!. Give yourself a chance to develop enough proficiency to be able to judge its long term value to you!. Don't give up too early, before you reach a skill level that allows you to appreciate what music can do for you!.

Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
