Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Musical Theatre is a play in which the writers/actors use song and dance to help further the story, and also sometimes to add comedic relief, build tension, reach a conflict, or resolve a conflict!. Approximately half the play is spoken lines and blocking, and the other approximate half is singing and dancing choreography!.

also, traditionally, and in a lot of productions today, there is a pit orchestra, which is made up of a conductor and a smaller group of instruments(anything from 4 or 5 electric keyboards, to a jazz ensemble, to a very small orchestra, depending on what the music in the play requires) which sits somewhat underneath the front of the stage(usually the pit is covered until it is needed), and they provide live music for the performers onstage!. If this is not feasible, a recording of all the music is used!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Musical theatre is a form of theatre combining music, songs, spoken dialogue and dance!. The emotional content of the piece – humor, pathos, love, anger – as well as the story itself, is communicated through the words, music, movement and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole!. Since the early 20th century, musical theatre stage works have generally been called, simply, "musicals"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
