Question: Crack in "nose" of violin
Just bought a cheaper, beginner violin on-line!. I live in a remote area so my choice of music stores is very limited!. The violin arrived with a crack in the "nose" which is the rainbow shaped part at the base of the neck!. It goes completely over the "nose" in a rainbow shape!. The shipping to send it back and then purchase a new one and have it shipped will almost amount to having bought 2 violins!. So, what I want to know is - will a crack in the nose affect the acoustics of the instrument and, if so, can it be easily fixed!? Thank you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i would guess, yes it can be fairly easily fixed!. I have seen violins with cracks running down the back and the front of the instrument that were repaired!. I would say, if the place you bought the violin from won't replace the instrument for free- since it arrived damaged, get a full refund (if possible) and buy from somewhere else- Shar is a reputable company!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
