Hi KB!. :))

Congrats on being a beginner flute player!. That is awesome!!

Well, so you are having trouble getting your low notes out!? That is nothing unusual for a new player!.!.!. even for an advanced, if they have not worked on it!.

Being able to play strong low notes has to do with the strength of your diaphragm which influences air support!. The more air support you have, the stronger and louder your notes in the low register will be also!.

There are exercises you can do to develop a stronger diaphragm!. You need to do long tones!. All of my students are required to do tone study from the book Trevor Wye Volume I - Tone!. The exercises focus on better tone in all three registers, but it starts with the low register first!. My own daughter was on the low register for over two years and now her low notes are unbelievable!. You also need a working metronome to aid in your practice!.

Don't expect your low notes to make great improvements in a couple of weeks!.!.!.!. even months!.!.!. as I said, it might take a couple of years, but if you never get started!.!.!. it will NEVER happen at all!.

Ask your flute teacher about getting you started on Tone Studies!. Mention the book I suggested to you ( and she may already know about it) and tell her you are interested in improving your tone!.

A beautiful tone takes the 3 P's: practice, patience, and perseverance!.

Best of Luck to you!.

Thanks for reading!. :))Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, depending on the brand of your flute, low notes could be harder to come out!. But don't jump to conclusions and blame it on your flute!. First, try to come down to the notes!. Start on a middle staff B-flat and play down the scale as far as you can go (with a beginner flute, it should be a C) Hold out the lower notes for longer!. This will help you get used to how your embouchure should feel!. Once you think you can do this, try just blowing the notes out on their own!. You'll get used to playing low notes the more you practice!.
also, ask your teacher how he/she does it! That's what they're there for!. They will help you hit the notes more than I can because they will actually see and hear you playing!.
Hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com

from what i can remember, just blow a little harder but keeping the hole in your mouth open wide so it doesn't turn into a high note!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
