If you teach yourself, it's gonna take you a LONG tiime since you don't have any direction and are just practicing what you think you should be practicing!.

If you take lessons, how you'll progress and learn will be VERY different from teaching yourself!. You'll have professional direction and someone who knows your musical goals and is able to get you there faster than you imagined!. (Of course, you gotta meet your teacher halfway by practicing what he or she gives you)!.

I take guitar lessons and in a year or so I was playing metal!. But that was just me and my progress at guitar!. It may be different for you, but certainly not after two months will you be able to shred!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can start by looking up the cords on the internet!. You would need to tell people how much musical knowledge you already have for them to give you any kind of an estimate!. Of course they may not want to tell, because it will scare you off!.
