Question: Are trumpet and marching french horn fingerings really the same!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
YES!.!.!. all of the fingerings for mellophone are the same as for trumpet!.

There are some alternate fingerings that may be more appropriate if you're trilling or playing fast passages though!.!.!.

here's a mellophone fingering chart:

and here's a trumpet fingering chart to compare:

Hope this helped! :)

EDIT: I know you play marching french horn and NOT the mellophone, but it's weird!.!.!. if you google "marching french horn fingering chart" it comes up with ONLY mellophone charts!.!.!. the two instruments are very similar though, with the same coils, etc!.!.!. the mfh is just slightly bigger!. If this isn't sounding right, I would ask your band director!.!.!. maybe it's hybrid fingerings or something!?! LOL
Here's a french horn fingering chart though, just in case!.!.!. it's actually similar to the trumpet too!.!.!. with the exception of a couple notes!.!.!.

I don't believe so, the E flat alto (marching French Horn) should have fingerings closer to the French Horn than the Trumpet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
