Question: Should I get a Martin or an SJ200!?
I want a guitar that I can play classic rock on, and traditional Irish music!. I'm looking at either a D-35 or an SJ-200!. I want one that has a wide range of musical genres!. What do you recommend!? (Feel free to tell me about other types of guitars!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think you need to try more guitars!. I don't care for either of your choices, but for the amount of money you're prepared to spend there are some seriously excellent guitars out there!.

The D-35 is a flatpicking guitar used for rhythm guitar and leads in bluegrass bands!. It's a bass-heavy guitar!. The SJ-200 is a great looking guitar but even with the maple back and sides is also too bass-heavy!.

I'd suggest a 000, OM or Auditorium sized guitar like the Taylor GS-8, Martin 000-18, Bourgeois OM, Martin OM-21 or OM-35, Taylor -12 or -14 series, Collings C-10, Martin M-38, or Santa Cruz OM!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Go for the Martin!. I live close to the factory and have taken the tour!. They are so carefull and really have turned it into a science, from the selection of the wood, to the finish of the guitar to get the best sounds and a terrific guitar!.When they finish the build and tune the guitar, they keep it there for about a month and then bring it out and make sure that it holds its tune!. It really is a labor of love there!.!.!.and besides!.!.!.!.!.!.Eric Clapton loves them!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Fender Telecaster or even a Stratocaster!. The 'Tele' has more of the 'plain flat top' sound with a clean sounding amplifier!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
