Question: HELP! Guitar Callouses are peeling!!!?
I am a beginner guitarist and I have developed some decent callouses on my fingertips!. I can play for hours without it hurting!.

BUT, to form them, I've been keeping my left hand dry and now I'm noticing that the skin on the tips is starting to peel!. It hasn't fully reached the callouses, but it's getting there!.

Am I in danger of losing my callouses!?! What should I do to make sure I don't lose them!?

Thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You won't lose your callouses!. Only the skin on top!. It's a natural regeneration!. Just keep playing, and if the skin flakes become annoying use a nail file to smooth them down!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

First of all good job learning the guitar, ive tried a few times and i just can't get it!.

I do know a few things about callouses though!.!.!.!. they can peel but they spring back especially if you keep playing!.

if they peel use a fingernail clipper to trim them up (dont rip them off) and maybe use a moisturizer a little!.

Don't worry though, if you keep playing they will stay!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

hello!. my suggestion is, use a moistening lotion on your hands (whatever brand) to keep your skin supple!. then hopefully you won't have this problem!. then when you play your guitar, your fingers with callouses will be capable to keep your ability strong!. much luck!. (I was a giar player also, never 'grew' beyond the first position, never became a full 'bar' chord player)!. good luckWww@QuestionHome@Com

Just keep playing!. The tips of your fingers will stay hard that way!. I don't think you can lose the build-up if you just keep playing regularly - I never have!.

EDIT: Don't use a moisturizer, you want them to stay hard! - - - JUST KEEP PLAYING!Www@QuestionHome@Com

welcome to the world of guitar!. Your going through normal things with your fingers!. They will peel, hurt, get hard from time to time!. You may have a guitar thats not so great and the strings are sorta far away from the fret board which makes your callouses hurt, tear, and bleed!.
Keep it up thoughWww@QuestionHome@Com

That's not really good!. You shouldn't treat the hand any different (keeping it dry)!. Put on lotion!. It's just the epidermis and keeping it moisturized won't be bad for the fingers!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

just keep on playing and after a time they will turn into nice little leathery pads!.!.!. i know mine dont peel anymore!.

play on sister!.!.

no, thats how you get callouses!. I cant remember the last time my fingers didn't peel!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just peel them off! They'll grow back as you continue playing, dude!. Whoops!. Dudette!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There's no need to keep your hands dry!. That's the problem!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
