Okay here some solid advice!. When learning solos it's best to learn them slow and i mean slow practice slower then your brain wants!.The biggest issue with learning other peoples solos is that we often had it set in our brains "men that was hot i'm going to learn that solo in a day" when in fact the guitarist who made that solo had to practice it goodness knows how many times!. Now as for improve I see that you want to break out the pentatonic scale i suggest you instead of just learning it in a whole bunch of position you learn you chops and licks!.See how many licks you can learn in the pentatonic scale then add a appergio, and when your ready move on to full blown minor and major scales!. But don't rush it and just try to learn a whole bunch of scales at once that leads to you just playing up and down on the neck which makes your playing sound very "scaleish" Iearn the whole scale on just one string this leads to some great sounding improv and just take your time guitar is a instrument that requires patience so just stick with it

Yes, learning scales will help!. I've been playing for 16 years and I'm a pentatonic freak myself - I've never learned the modes and really have no desire to!. I got better by listening to my favorite songs until I could play the solos by ear!. That helped me understand different positions on the neck and what notes go with what scale!. I had been playing for 3 years before I "discovered" the blues scale (flatter third, flatted seventh) and that's what opened the door for me!. Although I'm a classically-trained pianist that can read music, tab books were a big help to me!. All in all I think the best way to get better at solos is to play the music of as many different players you admire as possible!. What you'll find over time is that your own soloing will draw from the nuances of your influences without sounding like you're copying anybody!.

!.!.and buy a quality metronome!. This is crucial!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Learn the Blues scale, and move back and forth between the scale, just to get your fingers used to moving, and so you can utilize your muscle memory!. also if you practice the solos, know the scale used to make it!. You can probably figure it out!. Good luck!. (I've been playing for less long, but this is the advice I got)Www@QuestionHome@Com
